Can Kerry replace Kennedy? Patrick Proud of Gay Daughter

True Hollywood Story: Deval Patrick

by Aaron Margolis, June 10th, 2008 at 12:21pm

Governor Deval Patrick is going to Hollywood. Despite his experience with speech writing, he’s not vying for a writing job. The State House News Service has the story.

Patrick administration officials are planning a visit to Hollywood next week when they travel to San Diego for a biotechnology convention, according to sources with direct knowledge of the schedule, though aides to the governor declined to discuss the side trip.

A visit to the silver-screen capital during the largely taxpayer-funded trip would likely afford Gov. Deval Patrick and other officials the chance to highlight the state’s efforts to lure film industry incentives to Massachusetts. It was unclear late Monday how large the traveling contingent would be, or where in the city it would visit.

While Patrick aides refused to release information the Hollywood trip, sources said the governor and other officials were scheduled to meet with studio executives Thursday, the final day of the convention. Patrick aides have also remained tight-lipped about whether Patrick will travel to Chicago for a political event with Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and other governors.

Officials have been guarded about discussing details of the West Coast swing, saying the list of attendees has not been finalized yet. At the international biotech convention, they are hoping to draw attention to the 10-year, $1 billion life sciences proposal the Legislature appears likely to pass this week.

Patrick aides said they would discuss the details of the trip this week.

That should give them plenty of time to figure out what is the most palatable story to tell the taxpayers. “Sounds like Governor Patrick is ready for his close-up. Is he heading to Hollywood on state business or to option his book for a movie?” asked Barney Keller, Communications Director of the Massachusetts Republican Party. “The taxpayers have a right to know.”

    If someone of substance began issuing press releases etc. against this drive-by governor (s)he could be the next governor….hello, hello anyone out there? This is the press speaking, you know how we are alwways looking for trouble…Hello, hello…

    My sources tell me that Governor Deval Patrick is making the side trip to Hollywood to speak with Emmanuel Lewis (aka Webster), who will be playing him in the upcoming movie of his life. Gary Coleman has refused the part and will keep his job as a car-wash attendent instead.

    Will the real Christy please stand up?

  • 4. V  |  June 12th, 2008 at 10:25 am

    So, today the “real Christy” decides to stand up. In the Herald he lays a dig on Mitt Romney (dig, get it?).

    Nooooooooooo…..Christy can’t open his cake-hole about the Devaluator since he set the pick for him.

    It just shows that Christy is the crank I have always taken him for. He could have shut his face, backed Healey and we’d all be better off. Including Christy. He’s the poster boy for biting off your nose to spite your face.

  • 5. Mr. x  |  June 12th, 2008 at 10:54 am

    So Christy is an R? (see below for Herald quote 6/12) But that’s the Herald’s fault (V’s friends) Christy’s right on the issues as usual. They should refer to the ex-Gov. as Mitt “The answer my friend,is blowin’ in the wind” Romney!

    But not all Bay State Republicans think Romney would be an asset as McCain’s second on the ticket.
    “There’s no chance,” said former gubernatorial candidate Christy Mihos, who helped pave the way for Romney’s race for governor in 2002 but has since drifted away from the ex-GOP governor. “McCain takes a position and sticks with that position. Romney has been on every single side of every single issue known to man.”

    Thanks Hubpolitics for not allowing me to respond. As an Independent, McCain is my choice. Romney is for which position today? Tomorrow it will be another. Its like Healey; during the campaign she was tough on the Illegal Immigration issue, and just as I said at the fox debate in Sept. 2006, she’ll be with the Bush/Kennedy bill in no time. March of 2007 she flipped in Boston Common mag.

    Hooray! Hooorayyyy! Chrsity’s back! Don’t blame me I voted for Christy! Draft Christy now! Draft Christy Now!

  • 8. V  |  June 13th, 2008 at 12:55 pm

    Christy, like you Mr. X, is a fraud.

    McCain flips all over the place too. Try looking at where Big Mc stood on the immigration issue until he realized it was a loser.

    Christy, until you take responsibility for the mess you left us in, you’ll have no more credibility than Swifty.

    Mr. X, we can all blame you, just like we can all blame those who voted for Ross Perot at the expense of Bush 41.

    V! the last circle of hell is reserved for the collaborators i.e. you and your R boot-lickin’ friends who sacrafice the common good for personal gain…ever notice how there is never a “No Vacancy” sign in HELL? That’s because there’s plenty of room and, fortunately for society, only a few V’s!

  • 10. V  |  June 16th, 2008 at 6:58 am

    Mr. X;

    Once more you resort to the Marxist/Communist/Democrat strategy…..demonize, shout down, accuse, insult.

    Just exactly what/whom am I collaborating with Mr. X? You say this because I refuse to be indoctrinated with your propaganda?

    Your unions have been sacrificing the common good for “personal” gain for years.

    Typical X, stomp your feet rather than rebut a point (or prove your own). You used to be much more interesting.

    Hey, no fair! This thread was closed, I thought I got the last word! That’s, Mr Inside Baseball (a.k.a. V!) that opened it up again.

    Anyone who criticizes Christy and says “Don’t blame me I voted for Muffy” and not only listens to but worships Howard Lawrence Carr is a collaborator…give it up V!

  • 12. V  |  June 16th, 2008 at 11:23 am

    Mr. X;

    You have yet to thoughtfully rebut my criticisms of Christy. And that faker that keeps posting under Christy’s name is no better.

    I did “vote for Muffy” because she was the best of bad choices (face it, the way Christy ran eliminated any chance he would have had).

    And, I listen to Howie, but I think he is an intellectual light-weight (and his book, though entertaining, was as poorly written as his columns).

    We ran the best campaign we could. We were right on the issues. We were right about what would happen if either Deval or KMH were elected. See Boston Herald 11/5/06 “The Candidates in Their Own Words”. But I am an Independent. If you like being 48 in the nation in job growth, having a Healthcare For All program that will cost the state $1.2 Billion next year [Mitt said $200 million when he signed it] and more fees, fines and taxes then go for the same old same old. You may want to turn the old stress meter down a bit though V—- we have a long way to go. And do the math; Healey+Mihos+Ross= less than 57%

  • 14. V  |  June 17th, 2008 at 9:11 am

    Christy;

    No stress here. This is a debate site, not the UFC.

    If you are the real Christy, you better do some soul searching regarding your campaign. You ran as a foil, a crank. You brought nothing new to the table. Your campaign was poorly organized and poorly run. Wasn’t it you who held a fund-raiser and had no one but family show up?

    You are no better than any republican (who, as many on this forum will point out consider running for Gov an entry level position).

    Run for Mayor, or Senate, or the House. Or, Dog Catcher. If you want to build a party, put one together. Go out and speak on the issues. Get your face on TV and your name in the paper (and not as a republican). Go on the radio and speak about all of the issues that you see that can be corrected. Talk to members of the general court. Get involved.

    When you run the next time (IF you do, and that’s a BIG if), maybe you could think of something other than the Big Dig to campaign on.

    I’ll buy you dinner any time you want to talk to a middle-class taxpayer who is getting the full squeeze. You can even bring Mr. X.

  • 15. christy  |  June 17th, 2008 at 10:44 am

    Sure V —come on down. the cape this time of year is wonderful. I’ll buy you a tank of gas to get home too! all the best.

  • 16. V  |  June 18th, 2008 at 11:24 am

    Christy;

    If you are the real Christy, send Aaron or Matt an e-mail and ask for my e-mail address. We’ll set something up. Just let then know I said it was okay and they can check here to see that it is.
