A recent poll of Massachusetts shows that in a head to head matchup, Senator McCain and Senator Obama are tired.
Massachusetts is one of the bluest states in the country, so it’s quite remarkable to see a Republican running neck-and-neck with any Democrat, but the fact that McCain is tied with Obama is really significant. Obama’s candidacy is a larger version of Deval Patrick gubernatorial candidacy: An unqualified candidate with a knack for having good speeches about “hope” who not only runs for office, but allegedly against the status quo.
Massachusetts voters clearly see the parallels and have no desire to be fooled twice. The question I have is when are Democrats across the country going to realize that there’s less to Barack Obama than meets the eye … or the ears.

sigh – wait I thought polls were meaningless. We couldn’t ever listen to them because they were so stupid.. Oh wait- until you find one that you want to be true.. YOU ARE A MORON
More accurately McCain trails Obama by 2%, which happens to fall within the 4.3% margin of error.
Considering the fact that George McGovern carried only Massachusetts and Washington DC, it is a truly remarkable achievement. Deval Patrick ought to be afraid, very afraid.
Well, do you suppose there is come hope for the general electorate after all?
HOPE??? not unless there is yet another attempt to build the R party. Independent is the only way to go. Conservative fiscal postions, hard penalties for our state’s corrupt elected and appointed officials, tough enforcement of Illegal Immigration issues and Libertarian social positions. That is where the electorate is here in Massachusetts. The Rs will take on the wedge social issues all the time and will not get elected. Watch how scott brown goes down next november as a harbinger of where the people in MA. are towards Republicans. Granted he acts stupid much of the time, but his race will be one to watch.
Anyone seen Deval lately? Hey, the House just released their budget…where’d the deficit go? The con game of projected deficits continues…the gambling $$$ is not even included and the budget is balanced and over a billion more than the previous year…Good thing movies are doing well here..they should make one called: ” How big business, big media and big government con the taxpayers.” Starring…
Today is Patriots Day. They would have been tar and feathering those frauds on the Hill. But no outrage in fair Massachusetts. X, as usual is spot on. A projected Billion Dollar deficit is gone. The fraud on the Massachusetts Taxpayer continues. Vote to eviscerate the Income Tax next November. Its the only way to take control of State Government as the Legislature will pass Legislation to countermand the People’s Mandate and then we offer candidates who are determined to uphold the People’s Vote.
Tarring and feathering? What a good idea, rebel!
Matt, you’re dead right about the Obama/Patrick connection. Kids here at Assumption mindlessly repeat “Yes we can!”, totally reminiscent of the “Together we Can!” we heard back in 2006 (apparently we couldn’t- even the corrupt goon Sal DiMasi has made a respectful showing on Beacon Hill compared to our governor). I suggest we conservatives/Republicans adopt an equally hopeful but stingingly true motto:
“Yes we can, no he can’t!”
crusader88 Independents comprise 53% of registered voters here—Rs just over 12%. Independent is the way to go, as they have had it with both parties. They are conservative on fiscal issues and want to make a go of it in their home state. but they are getting crushed by the BS of both major parties. Think about it Crusader88.
rebel;
Are you Mr. X’s protege? “Spot on” if facts don’t matter to you, sure.
According to the Secretary of State (as of 2004), 43% of registered voters are registered UNENROLLED rebel. That’s NOT “Independent”.
“Unenrolled” is not a political party. “They” have “had it” with both parties to the point that they want to be able to pick and choose ballots as they like. There has been little groundswell in MA to have an “Independent” party. That’s just a fantasy. You can’t even register as an “Independent” in MA.
At one time bloodletting worked too! what are you using 2004 numbers for. Unenrolled is well over 50% and growing. Rs will be below 12 at years end. There was an “Independent” Gubernatorial candidate on the ballot in 2006. It was just not his time. But as this State becomes more unaffordable, population leaves, and the budget grows, now over $28billion annually, and there is no enforcement of the Illegal Immigration issue, then we all suffer. And you offer the same old same old.
Bloodletting never worked…..people just thought it did.
I used the numbers that were available to me; they do not diminish my point.
You have no idea what I “offer” or what my political affiliations are. You just assume.
Your “independent” had/has no time. What was he “building”? Nothing. His run was a vendetta no matter what you kool-aid drinkers want to admit. And, saying you are an “independent” candidate does not make an independent party. Christy was registered “unenrolled”.
You all say “population leaves”. Who is leaving? Upon what do you base your assertion that people are “leaving”?
US census data shows that from 2000-2006 Massachusetts INCREASED in population. The “decrease” is just a canard.
What do YOU offer that is “new”? NOTHING. You just rehash old gripes, true or not. Boooooring. zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Hey V! How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? I suppose you would have been against Andrew Jackson in 1828 because he ran as a vendetta against Adams et al for stealing the election of 1824! Jacksonian Democracy was the reward for America….get out of yout two-
party straightjacket! What’s best or who’s best for America (or The Bay State) is the only question, pinhead!
