Red Sox To Visit White House

Our World Series champions will be making their second trip to the White House in four years

Members of last year’s Red Sox team will fly to Washington, D.C., today to meet with President George W. Bush at the White House, an honor that comes with winning the 2007 World Series.

Red Sox manager Terry Francona and players, coaches, and field staff from last year’s team will fly from Fort Myers, Fla., to D.C. following this morning’s workout and are expected to meet with President Bush at approximately 3:05 p.m. Executives John W. Henry, Tom Werner, Larry Lucchino, and members of the Red Sox ownership group and front office will also attend the White House ceremony. Any Sox player who appeared in a game last season is invited to go, according to team publicist John Blake. It remains to be seen if they all will go.

The Sox will also be visiting wounded war veterans at Walter Reed.

    I wouldn’t go…although shaking hands with the worst president in US history is something to tell the grandkids…

    It’s about the Red Sox going to Walter Reed and meeting a local guy (Milton). Really great story. It shouldn’t be missed.

    Mr. X;

    As in the military, we salute the rank, not the man.

    LefXty – Are you kidding me you socialist commie dope. Drop the foolish anti-Bush rant. If you can pull your eyes away from the new republic long enough to read either of the local pet cage dropping liners, you will see the players quotes this was more about going to Walter Reed to see our injured heroes than about being congratulated by the commander in chief. Let’s let these guys have a little spirited fun. But like always with you, why let the facts get in the way of the truth. Chump.
