Deval Doesn’t Support Taking Down The Tolls

by Matt Margolis, December 20th, 2006 at 11:58pm

As if we expected anything less from Deval Patrick

In his strongest comments yet against a plan to remove western Turnpike tolls, Gov.-elect Deval Patrick today said he believes the idea is “impractical” and he won’t support it unless the state should see a financial windfall.

“I’d like to be able to take the tolls down. I’d also like not to have to pay a mortgage,” Patrick said during a press conference this morning. “Unless I can find an alternative source of funding then I just don’t see how practically we can do it.”

How about a loan?
