Armed Thug Comes Within Feet of Menino

The Boston Herald reports that an armed man came within feet of Boston Mayor Menino during a walking tour of Dorchester Monday evening. Luckily for the Mayor, the man was spotted by police and chased down.
Looks like Menino missed a close one. Or perhaps the man was hoping to still get a $200 gift card for Target, and thought maybe he’d try giving his gun to Menino personally.
The Boston Herald said that Menino learned firsthand “the fright many of his constituents suffer in a city plagued daily by gunplay,” but come on, how many people have a police entourage around them for their protection? Would Menino dare walk around Dorchester by himself, like those of us who live, work, or spend time in the city sometimes have to?
I am sure Menino is still proud of himself for his ridiculous gun buyback program, which he called a success, but Menino can afford to live in such a fantasy when he has his own police protection following him around. How many of his constituents have that luxury?
