Massachusetts’ 10th Congressional District is currently represented by Rep. William Delahunt. As we reported earlier, Rep. Delahunt was one of two U.S. Representatives from Massachusetts not to sign his name to an advertisement appearing in both the Boston Herald and the Boston Globe today in support of Israel’s right to defend herself.
Delahunt’s challenger, Jeff Beatty, supports Israel, and Israel’s right to defend herself. The following is a statement from Jeff Beatty’s campaign.

Statement by Jeff Beatty in Support of Israel
As a Candidate for US Congress in the 10th Congressional District (Quincy/South Shore/Cape Cod & Islands), I firmly support Israel’s right to defend her population against unprovoked acts of terror, including the missile attacks launched against Boston’s sister city, Haifa. I am disappointed that my opponent did not sign the letter that appeared in today’s Boston Herald and Globe in support of Israel. I express my heartfelt concern for the safety of all innocent people, including Israelis, Palestinians, and Lebanese. Israel is to be commended for the extra risk it is putting on its’ soldiers and airmen as they operate in close proximity to their enemy to laser designate discreet small targets such as rocket launchers and even individual Hezbollah terrorists, as Israel seeks to avoid civilian casualties. Often, as it did yesterday, this running of additional risk to avoid civilian (Lebanese) casualties results in the death of more Israeli soldiers. To the families of those soldiers, I extend my deepest sympathy for their loss and admiration for the courage of their loved ones.

Finally, someone who sees this terror threat as a worldwide movement. Thank God for Jeff Beatty.
The lone democracy in the middle east and my congressman, Mr. Delahunt, could care less if it survives.
