Dial ‘M’ For Menino Murder
by Matt Margolis, June 26th, 2006 at 08:39pm

Boston has seen its 34th homicide this year, which the Metro notes puts the city on track to exceed last years high. If Menino wants to believe that his ridiculous gun buyback program is going to fix this, it’s not just his problem… it’s ours. We need some real leadership in Boston to make the city safer. A report from last week indicated that while 250 guns had been returned at the time, only a few had been traced to a crime. Seems clear to me that the wrong people are giving up their guns, and Boston’s murder rate will continue on its current path.
UPDATE: The most recent report puts the total number of guns returned through the program at 382, but does not indicate how many of them were traced back to a crime.

Let’s make it easier for law-abiding citizens to own and carry firearms. That’s the way to keep people safer. Oh yeah, and it honors the U.S. Constitution. But the liberals won’t let a silly document like the Constitution get in their way.
