Mihos’s Family Donates To Reilly Campaign, Not Christy

Christy Mihos may be an outsider in this years gubernatorial campaign, but appears to be an outsider in his family as well, as Democrat challenger Tom Reilly has been on the receiving end of several donations from Mihos’s family members.
Mihos’ brother and former Christy’s Markets partner James Mihos, James’ wife Linda and their daughter Marissa chipped in a total of $1,250 to Reilly’s campaign. So far, they have not given any cash to Mihos.
Mihos’ sister, Marlene Mihos Bucuvalas, who hasn’t spoken to Mihos in years, also gave $250 to Reilly’s campaign, opting not to give to her brother’s.
Mihos’s mother, Marie Mihos, also gave Reilly $250, but later gave $500 to the Mihos campaign, records show.
Everyone has a relative (or relatives) whom they’d not support if they were running for political office. But, something just doesn’t seem right about these significant donations from the Mihos family. The Mihos campaign offers their own explanation.
“Yes, Christy is aware that contributions were made by family members to Reilly,” said Mihos’ campaign manager Peter Pendergast. “They are hoping that Christy gets Reilly in the final, and so is Christy.”
Considering Mihos’s dropping poll numbers, they ought to more concerned about Christy’s campaign surviving long enough to make it to “the final”, rather than adding to coffers of a prefered opponent. If Mihos’s family did support Christy, at the very least they’d make even nominal donations to his campaign.
This makes the explanation by the Mihos campaign hard to swallow.
