Nantucket Sound Wind Farm Project Could Be Killed
by Matt Margolis, February 23rd, 2006 at 01:03pm

It appears that Ted Kennedy has found someone to carry the water for him to kill the Nantucket Sound wind farm project: U.S. Rep. Don Young from Alaska, who has snuck in a backdoor amendment into an $8.7 billion Coast Guard bill. The amendment would ban turbines within 1-1⁄2 miles of shipping and ferry lanes, effectively killing the clean energy project.
Lawmakers opposing the wind farm project all happen to have property on the Cape, including Senator John Warner (R-VA), Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Rep. William Delahunt from the Cape, and of course, Ted Kennedy. John Kerry has not offered any opinion on the issue yet…
The leaders of Cape Wind Associates are crying foul over the measure.
