Republican Coppola Wins Late Husband’s Seat; Rice and Provost Win For Dems

Today’s special election resulted in two new Democrats and one Republican heading to the Hill.

2nd Worcester Representative District
Democrat Robert Rice defeated Republican Jonathan Dennehy for the seat formerly held by Brian Knuuttila. (Tally: 2,013 to 920)

1st Bristol Representative District
Virgina “Ginny” Coppola won her late husband’s seat. She represents the only Republican victory in today’s election, beating Democrat Claire Naughton. Coppola won by just over 500 votes. No word yet on a recount. (Tally: 1,606 to 1,091)

27th Middlesex Representative District
Democrat Denise Provost ran unopposed.
