Ted Kennedy on Supreme Court Vacancy
by Aaron Margolis, July 3rd, 2005 at 03:33pm

Once again the Democrats, still licking the wounds of lost elections, have vowed to oppose any nominee of the President who is “too conservative.” And, once again, our dear old Senator Ted Kennedy is making the strongest of threats against the constitutional rights of the President.
“If the President abuses his power and nominates someone who threatens to roll back the rights and freedoms of the American people, then the American people will insist that we oppose that nominee, and we intend to do so,” said Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts, a member of the judiciary committee that will vet Mr. Bush’s Supreme Court nominee.
“I will not vote for someone unless they demonstrate a core commitment to the fundamental constitutional values of the Constitution, including privacy.”
Translation: I will not vote for someone if they are anywhere right of center. This of course, can be further translated into the promise that Democrats will fight to the death to protect Roe v. Wade.
