Romney Signs State Budget Ted Kennedy on Supreme Court Vacancy

Keeping an eye on the East

by Eric Lindholm, July 1st, 2005 at 10:46pm

Hello and welcome, this is Eric Lindholm representing the view of Western Massachusetts. A lot of us are sick of you Bostonites sucking up the oxygen (and cash) from the rest of the state. So we’re happy to see that Governor Romney cares about protecting state highway funds from being thrown into that hole in the ground known as the Big Dig:

In a new clash over the $14.6 billion Big Dig, the Romney administration is holding up state funds for the project, as the governor’s aides question whether the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority has improperly agreed to pick up costs that should be borne by project contractors.

The total amount held back is only $1.2 million but, for once, somebody has stood his/her ground on this massive boondoggle. And in Western Massachusetts, there was much rejoicing.
